Napoli waited until the very end to sign Ademola Lookman.
According to II Mattino, Ademola Lookman was Napoli top transfer target and Atalanta wanted 40 million euros to finally offload him after all the drama of the summer and the player’s wish to leave on return from the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.
“Napoli did everything to sign him,” the newspaper reported.
In the end, they signed Alisson Santos, a Brazilian striker from Sporting Lisbon.
Top Transfer Expert Fabrizio Romano reported that Napoli would have matched Atletico Madrid offer for Ademola Lookman, but for the financial restrictions imposed on the Italian club in this transfer window.
“It couldn’t have been done, otherwise I tell you that Napoli would have certainly matched Atletico Madrid’s offer for Ademola Lookman, who has always been a target for them,” Romano revealed.
He described Alisson Santos as “a forced choice” by Napoli.
