Raphael Onyedika is sold on a transfer to Turkish champions Galatasaray, but Club Brugge will not entertain this, while Aston Villa in the Premier League and Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt are lurking around for the Super Eagles midfielder.
Raphael Onyedika (24) was back on the training pitch at Club Brugge this week , but his mind is clearly not solely on Westkapelle. He wants to leave. Galatasaray already made an offer, Club Brugge simply rejected it… and now Eintracht Frankfurt have emerged as the new spoilsport.
This issue is starting to boil. Because this is one of those transfers where everyone has their own version of the truth.
At Club Brugge, they don’t see him as a problem, but as one of the last pawns they want to let go in January. Hence the resounding “no” to Galatasaray.

Not because Club Brugge want to bully him, but because they consider him crucial and because they know how that game works: top Turkish clubs like to push, but the Blues want cash and security, not a vague payment plan.
Het Laatste Nieuws puts it sharply: Galatasaray are pushing, but Club Brugge won’t cooperate.
Onyedika still has 18 months left on his contract, and for him, it means pushing through now or threatening a free transfer later. For Club, it means either convincing him to stay with an improved contract, or choosing the right timing to avoid losing too much negotiating power.
Het Nieuwsblad also outlined it this week: he’s been eyeing a new adventure for some time, and Club will have to force his hand.
Galatasaray are not keeping quiet anymore. Star player Victor Osimhen is opening up the crowd and campaigning to bring his compatriot to Istanbul.
“I’m doing my best to convince Onyedika. I would love it if they came to one of the biggest clubs in the world and played with us,” he said.
But while Turkey is calling, Germany is joining the debate. According to Het Nieuwsblad , Eintracht Frankfurt have also re-entered the fray. Not even with an official bid (yet), but with a significant signal that they are once again interested in Club Brugge’s Nigerian star.

And Frankfurt are exactly the kind of club Club Brugge prefer to do business with than, say, Galatasaray. It’s appealing from a sporting perspective: a big name with a large stadium. But in Bruges, there’s still that distrust of Turkish negotiations and payment terms. The Bundesliga has a reliable structure and is credible from a sporting perspective.
Moreover, Frankfurt tried to convince him last summer, but were too late in the transfer window. That story now has a second chapter.
And as if that weren’t enough, England is also keeping an eye on the situation. Het Nieuwsblad mentions Aston Villa as a club closely monitoring the matter. This fits their situation, as Villa are looking for reinforcements due to injuries and pressure on their squad.
Onyedika’s market value is €20 million, but Club also know they once bought him for a record fee of around €10 million from Midtjylland. If they sell him too cheaply, they will lose both margin and prestige. And as if that weren’t enough, there’s also talk of Midtjylland getting a resale percentage on the capital gain.
In other words: the higher Club Brugge’s price, the more logical it becomes to actually let him go. And the less Club Brugge want to give Galatasaray a discount. On the other hand, Galatasaray prefer Onyedika himself.
This isn’t just about whether Onyedika wants to stay, but about the competition, the timing, the price, and the guarantees the acquiring club can offer.
And at the same time, Club Brugge are playing their own chess game with an agreement in principle with Félix Maréchal as a winter transfer.
This is a power struggle between three sides.
