The shock transfer to the Premier League of the son of Super Eagles star Furo Iyenemi has continued to cause ripples with the young striker’s agent now giving more insight to the switch from Belgian team Club Brugge.
In Het Nieuwsblad, Willem Ofori Appiah, Furo’s agent, explained the surprising transfer in more detail.
He explained that a departure wasn’t initially planned, as several clubs were sent packing in recent transfer window deals.
“Last year, Juventus and Leipzig, among others, showed interest, but we felt it would be better for him to continue his development at Club NXT,” said Ofori Appiah.
“Because we couldn’t reach an agreement on extending his contract in recent months, we accepted Brentford’s offer.”
Brentford splashed 10 million euros to sign 18-year-old striker Furo junior.
