Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle has said he believes his team’s AFCON Round of 16 opponents will be Mozambique and even that game will not be a walk in the park.
“Mozambique are likely to be our opponents in the next round,” Eric Chelle at the post-match press conference after the victory over Uganda Tuesday in Fes.
“It won’t be easy because they are a good team and they play well.”
Mozambique are currently third in Group F with three points and take on Cameroon later today to determine the final standings of this section.
A draw or a win for Cameroon will deliver the Mambas of Mozambique as the next team standing between Nigeria and AFCON glory in Morocco.
Interestingly, Cameroon were the Super Eagles Round of 16 foes at the 2023 AFCON in Cote d’Ivoire last year.
The Super Eagles flew past the Indomitable Lions 2-0 to advance to the quarterfinal of the competition.
