The last has yet to be heard on the controversial exclusion of Gift Monday from the Super Falcons with a high-ranking official and a major stakeholder in women’s football also wading into it by insisting that the Washington Spirit star ought to be an integral member of the reigning African champions on the back of her exploits.
A source close to the Super Falcons told SCORENigeria that Gift Monday has been snubbed by coach Justine Madugu because of a “very bad attitude”, while citing her social media postings.
However, this high-ranking official will disagree completely with the player’s exclusion.
“Gift has a place in the Super Falcons,” the official told SCORENigeria
“What does her social media postings got to do with her being kept out of the team?
“Her postings are her off-the-pitch interest and has nothing to do with her football.
“I know her to be an easy-going person, who gets on well with her fellow players.”
The official continued: “We don’t want to speculate about what the problem is, but this player deserves her place in the national team and the time is now.
“She was left out of the last WAFCON and even for the qualifiers of the next WAFCON against Benin when she’s a player who was scoring goals and winning Player of the Match awards in Spain even before she moved to US to continue doing so.”
The official further suggested that the Super Falcons coach ought to now face the media to defend his selections as was the practice previously.

Gift Monday is an amazing player and baller. She surely deserves a recall to the Super Falcons on merit. Coach Madugu and NFF should please do the needful.
