Super Falcons stars as well as other Nigerian players have again dominated the nominations for the 2025 CAF Awards.
CAF announced Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade along with midfielder Esther Okoronkwo among ten nominees for the CAF Women’s Player of the Year for 2025.
Both players made huge impact when Nigeria scooped a record-extending 10th WAFCON crown in Morocco in July.
Ajibade was named MVP of the delayed 2024 WAFCON, while AFC Toronto star Okoronkwo was selected Player of the Final.
The period under consideration for this award is January 6 to October 15, 2025.
Two-time winner Chiamaka Nnadozie is again listed for the Goalkeeper of the Year Award.
She will have stiff competition from the likes of Andile Dlamini of South Africa and Sedilame Boseja from Botswana.
Justin Madugu, who was named Coach of the 2025 WAFCON, is also in the running for the CAF Coach of the Year.
Like Nnadozie, he was also nominated for the prestigious Ballon d’Or.
Compatriot Bankole Olowokere is also in contention after he led the country’s U17 women’s team.
Shakirat Moshood will contest for the Young Player of the Year prize after she shone for both the Flamingos as well as Bayelsa Queens on the international stage.
Both the Super Falcons and Flamingos have been nominated for the Women’s Team of the Year, while Bayelsa Queens have been listed for the Women’s Club of 2025.
