Gernot Rohr has warned that today’s 2021 AFCON qualifier against Benin in Uyo will not be an easy match for the Super Eagles because he expects them to park the bus.
“It won’t be easy because Benin play very well defensively,” he warned.
“This is a team who eliminated Morocco at the last AFCON.
“But if we play well with our quality, we will win.
“The spirit in the team is very good.”
On Sunday, Nigeria will play their second 2021 AFCON qualifier in Lesotho.
He said the main target is to again qualify and do well at the next AFCON.
“We want to be in Cameroon and to do well there again,” said the coach, who led Nigeria to finish third at this year’s AFCON in Egypt.
Meanwhile, Rohr said he will wait till the last minute to decide on whether or not to start late comer Joe Aribo in today’s game.
The Glasgow Rangers midfielder has scored in his two games for Nigeria.
“Aribo is one of our key players. We will wait till the last moment to decide if he starts or not.”
