Headlined by a record breaking goal against English giants Manchester United at Old Trafford, where he gave the ‘Cottagers’ their first win at Old Trafford in 20 years, Iwobi proved his quality with Fulham under Marco Silva.
With his goal being the second latest winner against Manchester United in the Premier league and the latest in record (since 2006/07) scored by a vising team to the Theatre of Dreams in the Premier League, Iwobi reached six goals this season, just one away from his highest goals scored in a season (seven in 2016/2017 and 2018/2019).
Iwobi joined Fulham for an undisclosed fee in September 2023 after which he went on to have a nice AFCON outing, though with a late heartbreak in February.
The Lagos-born midfielder was a major part of Jose Peseiro’s midfield at Africa’s biggest showpiece as he was involved in all seven games, accruing 576 out of 630 possible minutes, including 79 minutes in the final.
At Fulham, the midfielder was involved in 32 games, of which he started 26 and was substituted in for five, accruing a total of 2,342 minutes with an average of 73 per appearance.
Creation wise, Iwobi had just two assists with an xG of 4.95, completing 785 out of 963 passes attempted, and a completion rate of 81.52. He played 49 key passes with 14 successful crosses out of 71 attempted and an average of 1,171 minutes per assists, in the Premier League.
Being played primarily as a winger, Iwobi tried 74 dribbles, 40 of which were successful, making an ‘above average’ success rate of 54.05%. He was only dispossessed 28 times.
In the season under review, Alex took 36 shots, 19 of which were on target with the other 17 being wife and a shot conversion rate of 13.89% with just one hitting the upright.
His shot accuracy was just above average, 52.78%, with 7.20 taken per goal scored
Defensively, Iwobi was not useless as he was involved in eight clean sheets with the team, making 28 tackles and 16 interceptions, winning 77 ground duels and five aerial duels, making six clearances.
Iwobi now looks to continue at the Craven Cottage from next season, continuing his Premier League regime and aiming for success after his football programme this summer.
