Former Super Eagles captain Mikel Obi has said he believes the country can win the 2023 AFCON should coach Jose Peseiro be able to fix the goalkeeping and defence problems facing the team.
The Eagles legend, who won the country’s last AFCON 10 years ago, said Nigeria are blessed with a superb strike force, but the team’s problems in defence and goalkeeping have to be sorted out.
“We are blessed with strikers from (Victor) Osimhen, we have (Taiwo) Awoniyi doing well for Nottingham Forest and national team, there is (Victor) Boniface for Bayer Leverkusen and others,” he remarked.
“We need to fix our defence and goalkeeper issues (to be champions again).”
