Maduka Okoye pulled out the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe because of issues with his international passport, officials disclosed.

The Super Eagles announced earlier this week that the Udinese goalkeeper has pulled out of World Cup qualifiers slated for this month.
However, there was no official explanation for this.
Eagles coach Jose Peseiro said at a press conference ahead of the match that the goalkeeper had “issues” with his passport.
This would have affected his travel to Nigeria and also his identification for the World Cup qualifiers.
