Defending champions Enyimba will begin their championship defence with a home tie against Bendel Insurance following the fixtures draw tonight in Abuja.
Enyimba won a record-extending ninth championship this past season and they will up against a resurgent Bendel Insurance, who won their first major trophy, the FA Cup, this past campaign after many years.
However, while Enyimba have since crashed out of the CAF Champions League, Insurance are through to the second round of the CAF Confederation Cup.
The opening day fixtures also include another interesting clash between Rivers United and Remo Stars, who both finished in the Top-4 last season as well as a battle between traditional clubs Shooting Stars and Plateau United.
The big kick-off is fixed for September 9.
