Seven-time champions Egypt coach Carlos Queiroz has said he has a squad who can go all the way at the AFCON as the countdown to their Group D opener against the Super Eagles continues.
Egypt and Nigeria will do battle on January 11 in Garoua.
The 25-man squad of the Pharaohs have 19 players from the country’s domestic league who have the experience of playing in the AFCON.
“These 25 players will be able to build a strong and Cohesive team that plays good football and is able to win and fight for the team and have a strong mentality,” Queiroz declared.
“The players are ready to fight. They will make Egypt proud.
“I am confident that this squad is capable of providing the best performance in the tournament.
“Our goal in the AFCON is to try to win every game, build a winning mentality because in March we will play the final stage of the World Cup qualifiers.
“We’re not going to AFCON to take a walk, we are going to win.”
Coach Carlos Queiroz described Liverpool star Mohamed Salah as the best player in the world at the moment.
Salah is the leading scorer in the Premier League with 16 goals thus far.
In the meantime, the Pharaohs have lined up a training match against Congo as part of their preparation for the AFCON.
