Genk have dismissed media reports of the record transfer fee they will pay Chelsea for striker Ike Ugbo.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has quoted a figure of 7.5 Million Euros.
But Genk spokesman Peter Morren has gone public to dispute this figure, insisting the club will pay “significantly less”.
Morren reacted sharply to Romano’s report on Twitter: “Correct information please, KRC Genk pays significantly less for Ugbo.”
According to Het Laatste Nieuws, Genk will pay an initial 3.5 Million Euros and another 2 Million Euros will be added if the Belgian club feature in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League with Ugbo part of the squad.
Interestingly, the transfer has yet to be made official.
