The glamorous ceremony for the 2023 CAF Awards will begin by 7pm tonight inside the Palais des Congres in Marrakesh, Morocco.
The colours for tonight’s awards ceremony are black and gold as Africa celebrates the best of football from the continent in the outgoing year.
It was only in September that the city of Marrakesh famous for its red clay walls was hit by an earthquake that killed over 3,000 people.
Tonight’s ceremony is therefore a most welcome turn around for this popular tourists’ destination.
CAF will broadcast the event live on their various social media accounts.
The men’s CAF Player of the Year Award again promises to be the highlight of the night as home boy Ashraf Hakimi will push hard for the top prize against Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen.
Besides winning the Ligue 1 crow with PSG, the defender was very much a part of the Moroccan Atlas Lions who made history by becoming the first African team to reach the semifinal of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar last December.
Nigeria and Osimhen failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup.
CAF have already announced that for the men’s gong the period under consideration is between November 2022 to September 2023, which covers the 2022 World Cup.
Will this swing against Osimhen?
