Menemespor new signing Simon Zenke has offered reasons why his goals dried up at another Turkish club Samsunspor just a season after he finished as Goal King.
The Kaduna-born star, who fired the winner on his Menemenspor debut the penultimate weekend, said the new coach at Samsunspor moved him to the wings.
“‘The new coach who arrived when we won promotion wanted a taller striker and started playing me from the wings and that affected my goals,” he explained.
“That continued with the other coaches at other clubs after I left Samsunspor, who also preferred me on the wings.
“The coaches were more comfortable with me on the wings because of my consistency with assists that led to many of our goals.
“‘It was just this coach at Menemenspor that really wanted me as a No 9 and I will fight hard to keep the confidence.
“Hopefully, I look forward to replicating my Samsunspor goal-scoring form now that I’m playing as a top striker.”
Zenke revealed he was unsettled at Romanian side Dinamo Bucharest because his salaries were delayed.
“‘I didn’t accept the option of renewing my contract at Dinamo Bucharest and returned to France to sign for a regional side in Strasbourg because I needed to be close to my family and assist my wife with some pressing family issues,” he told SCORENigeria
