The NFF may have tasked the Super Eagles to win tomorrow’s 2025 AFCON third-place clash against Egypt in Casablanca, but there are now very strong indications that several Super Eagles top stars will stay out the game after the disappointment of a penalty shootout loss to hosts Morocco in the semifinals.
The top stars include Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman and Alex Iwobi.
Already Calvin Bassey is suspended for this game, while captain Wilfred Ndidi remains an injury doubt even though he has served out a one-match ban that kept him out of the semifinal.
“Some of the big stars in the team are unhappy and broken after the loss to Morocco and as such do not wish to play against Egypt,” a source informed.
Tomorrow’s game gives the Super Eagles a chance to avenge a 2-1 loss they suffered at the hands of Egypt in pre-AFCON friendly in Cairo last month.
Both teams lined up experimental teams for that game.
Kick-off tomorrow for the losers’ final in Casablanca is 5pm.
