Uncertainty has heightened that Victor Osimhen may not after all get his wish to quit Napoli this summer.
Osimhen has made it clear that he wishes to move to the next level of his career and so a transfer away from Napoli, who imploded last season after the heroics of winning a third Scudetto the previous term.
The Super Eagles striker has been widely linked with Chelsea and PSG, but Napoli have yet to receive a formal bid for him.
Osimhen’s preferred destination is the Premier League, while in January he received a hard-to-refuse offer from Saudi Arabian club Al Ahli.
The reigning CAF African Player of the Year has now returned to training with Napoli after undergoing the pre-season medical routine.
He is the highest earner in Italy with an annual salary of more than 10 Million Euros and he also has a release clause of about 130 Million Euros.
These two factors appear to now be working against a transfer just as various reports have suggested that Napoli are willing to lower their valuation of the 25-year-old striker.
His contract is up in June 2026, while his Transfermarkt valuation has dropped to 100 Million Euros.
Napoli new coach Antonio Conte has already said he is prepared for the exit of Osimhen.
The Italian coach has penciled down Romelu Lukaku, who he worked with at Chelsea, as a direct replacement for Osimhen.
