Paul Onuachu was crowned Goal King of Belgium last season with 35 goals in all competitions but despite achievement, he has yet to make the big move to a major league club as widely expected.
Onuachu himself wants to make the big transfer because it is the biggest chance he has to play in a top league.
Voetbalkrant has put forward several reasons why Onuachu is still featuring for Genk and not at a new club.
The publication said principally, the asking price of between 30 and 25 Million Euros has shocked most interested clubs.
“Genk have set the initial transfer amount at around 30 Million Euros, to get at least 25 Million for the top scorer,” reported Voetbalkrant.
“But at the moment nobody wants to put that on the table and for Genk that is not a problem. They can safely do without the millions for Onuachu and would rather keep him for another season – or at least half a season – to be able to shine in Europe (UEFA Europa League).
“Many teams have doubts given his age (27) linked to the cost (what Genk want to be paid). They will probably no longer be able to create added value on it.”
This past week, Genk disclosed Onuachu will only leave for the “right” price, while bemoaning a rather “slow” transfer market.
