FC Porto have carried out the wish of the fans for a reliable leftback with the signing of Brazilian Wendell to further raise questions over the future of Zaidu Sanusi.
Zaidu was the toast of the fans on his arrival last season from modest Portuguese club Santa Clara.
However, recent blunders by the Super Eagles defender earned the wrath of the fans, some of whom will even go on to abuse him on social media.
A statistical comparison between the two leftbacks has already put the Brazilian ahead.
Zaidu will now have to battle for his first-team place with the Brazilian from Bayer Leverkusen.
He is protected by a long-term contract with Porto and in the long run he may suffer the same fate as several other Nigeria stars like Mikel Agu, Musa Yahaya and Chiedozie Awaziem, who were shipped out on loan season after season.
