The Golden Eaglets paid dearly for their failure to convert the many chances they created as they lost 2-1 to Sao Paulo U17s in an U17 World Cup warm-up in Brazil tonight.
The Nigeria U17s fell behind in the 18th minute through Danilo Silva and after the break they put away a chance, which was ruled offside.
Both sides then scored after the interval for the game to end 2-1 in favour of the local team.
Striker Olakunle Olusegun drew Nigeria level from the penalty spot in the 70th minute, before Enrique Santos snatched the winner for his team five minutes from time with a sublime finish.
The Eaglets will play a second warm-up game against South Korea on Wednesday as the big kick-off approaches.
They will also play another test game against Japan.
Thirty three players are currently in Brazil and 12 of them will be dropped for coach Manu Garba to come up with his final squad of 21 for the World Cup.
The U17 World Cup begins on October 26.
