Gernot Rohr may have envisaged a serious club vs country row as regards the release of call-ups for forthcoming AFCON qualifiers against Benin and Lesotho by placing as many as six players on standby.
The coach has disclosed six players will be on standby to serve as replacements should any of the players listed on the main squad stay away from the AFCON qualifiers.
It has been reported that several players may be affected by travel restrictions caused by the Coronavirus Pandemic.
FIFA have already ruled that clubs will not be sanctioned should they not release their players for international duty because of these travel restrictions across the world.
The football governing body has already postponed the 2022 World Cup qualifiers in South America because of this concern.
Super Eagles foes Benin have also raised concerns that the Coronavirus Pandemic may cause them to be without several of their top stars for the March 27 clash in Porto-Novo.
