The Golden Eaglets have cut USA-based defender Philip Titiloye and four other players from their final squad for the U17 AFCON, which kicks off in Morocco next weekend.
Titiloye, 16, has been injured for several weeks and was therefore a certainty he will not make the final cut to Morocco.
He watched the team’s farewell friendly against Camp United Saturday from the stands.
Interestingly, the son of Kwara United chairman, Kumbi Titiloye, was a last-minute replacement for another injured defender, Emmanuel Chukwu, for the WAFU B qualifiers in Togo recently.
Coach Fatai Amoo has picked a final 25-man squad for the tournament in Morocco with the bulk being from the qualifiers.
A notable fresh addition is midfielder Sagir Musa from Global Academy, whose style is compared to that of Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes.
Pls we MUST not present overage players. Remember there’s MRI to check their age. I wish d team & the crew best of luck IJN
