SCORENigeria can report that even though Nduka Ugbade has received unprecedented support to be the next head coach of the Golden Eaglets, many of the NFF top bosses are opposed to this appointment.
Former Super Eagles defender Ugbade has assisted Manu Garba severally with the Eaglets including when the country won a fourth U17 World Cup in 2013 in Abu Dhabi.
He has enjoyed some political clout in the NFF technical sub-committee, but it now appears he has a mountain to climb in the executive committee.
A source informed SCORENigeria: “For some reasons, Nduka is not popular with the board members, otherwise he is the favourite to take charge of the Golden Eaglets.
“We just have to wait and see if they will have a change of heart for him to be given the top post.”
Ugbade captained the Baby Eagles to win the inaugural U17 World Cup in China in 1985.
He is currently handling NNL outfit Giant Brillars, who are on course for a promotion playoffs place.
