AC Milan might drop their interest in signing Chelsea loanee Fikayo Tomori if they failed to qualify for the UEFA Champions League, according to media reports in Italy.
AC Milan are to pay €28m for the defender as pre-agreed with Chelsea.
The San Siro giants were in the fifth position before they moved up to second place following their 2-0 win over Benevento Saturday with Atalanta and Napoli having a game each at hand.
According to Calciomercato, the Champions League money is a big factor in how the management will be able to conduct their summer transfer market.
The 32 teams participating in the competition are guaranteed revenues of around €60m on average, so it is clear that the race for the top four will be vital to replenish the coffers.
Fikayo was rated high for his performance against Benevento on Saturday.
