Behold there is a New Order at the NFF secretariat with the new sherif being Emmanuel Ikpeme, acting general secretary and the former university lecturer with many, many lives.
It is now a week since that dramatic resignation of the NFF executive committee led by Ibrahim Gusau and it is safe to say that it is no longer business as usual at the NFF head office in Abuja.
Already some personnel changes have been effected at the head office and you can be sure that few more will soon be made in line with the Nigerian football reform as directed by President Bola Tinubu.
It is rumoured that the new sherif is “uncomfortable” with some of his new deputies, while some of the principal officers who worked very closely with the former general secretary are already feeling the heat of this New Order.
Some of these favoured officials have been ordered to stay put and not fly out to Poland for the U20 Women’s World Cup even after they have been granted their entry visas and flight tickets sent by FIFA.
Official reason: They may destabilise the Falconets at the World Cup.
For the majority of the staff members, who were “not carried along” by the past administration, it has been celebration galore, a liberation from the bondage they have had to endure for over a decade.
A thorough staff audit of the NFF secretariat will be one of immediate actions the in-coming Normalisation Committee will have to do to set the ball rolling for the reform.
If you’re living in a glasshouse, you can’t throw stones…
