President Muhammadu Buhari’s appointment of Daniel Amokachi as his Special Assistant on Sports is highly commendable.
The President has seen and demonstrated with his action the essence of technocrats manning strategic positions in sports particularly football if the national game is to be revived in this country.
The days of bandwagon of neophytes in football and sports administration in the country is gradually coming to an end.
The past six terrible years of suffocating grip by some individuals on Nigeria Football is a nightmare stakeholders cannot wait to hurriedly come to an end.
Stakeholders and the prosecuting agencies must ensure their tenures must come to an abrupt end while facing criminal prosecutions.
In fact by now if not for a lame duck congress this gang would have been impeached long time ago to pave way for ongoing criminal prosecution and recovery of millions of US Dollars and Billions of Naira NFF sponsorship funds allegedly diverted into private pockets.
Kudos to President Buhari for showing the way to go.
Honourable Sports Minister Sunday Dare should now follow the President Initiative to ensure reforms particularly on appointments and focusing on the constituency of retired footballers and athletes to take over their affairs of running football and other sports in Nigeria.
Congratulations to Daniel Amokachi, this appointment fits the bill of a round peg in a round hole.
