Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade was all tears as she was named by CAF Player of the match for the third time at the 2024 after Nigeria brushed past defending champions South Africa to reach the final.
She was also named the best player for the matches against Botswana and Zambia.
‘Rash’ said she did not deserve the award and dedicated it to the whole team and the fans.
Ajibade covered every blade of the grass as the Super Falcons left it late with a stoppage time winner by Michele Alozie to go past Banyana Banyana and stay on course for a record-extending 10th WAFCON crown.
The former Atletico Madrid star put away the penalty to get Nigeria in front on the stroke of half time.
It was also her penalty goal that lifted Nigeria past South Africa to qualify for the Paris Olympics last year.
