Coach Randy Waldrum has warned “unlucky” Republic of Ireland could well be the Super Falcons toughest match at the World Cup despite their elimination from the tournament.
Nigeria held Olympic champions Canada to a scoreless draw in their opening group game, before they stunned top-ranked Australia 3-2.
The Super Falcons top the group with four points, but will now need to avoid defeat later today to qualify for the World Cup Round of 16 from Group B.
Kick-off time is 11am today.
Waldrum has maintained it will not be an easy match for his team.
“A lot of people will say I am crazy, but I see this match as our toughest at the World Cup,” he cautioned.
“Clearly in both of their matches, they would have got a result. They were unlucky and with another bounce of the ball, it would have been a different outcome.
“I have been impressed with them and they way they play.
“They won’t lay down (against us) even though they are already going home.”
The Super Falcons are expected to be unchanged for this final Group B match.
Barcelona Femeni star Asisat Oshoala is still not 100% and so will again start from the bench as she did against Australia.
