Coach Jose Peseiro has admitted that the Super Eagles will not battle Portugal toe-to-toe like they did just when both teams first clashed in a pre-World Cup friendly.
The Super Eagles suffered their biggest loss in many years when they fell 4-0 to Portugal in Lisbon last month.
“We will not play them toe-to-toe was this the World Cup,” admitted Peseiro in an interview.
“I wanted to test the readiness of the players and that was why we played the way we did (in the friendly).
“Switzerland played them toe-to-toe and they were beaten 6-1.”
Peseiro is at the World Cup in Qatar to observe the various new trends in world football as he prepares for the resumption of the 2024 AFCON qualifiers in March.
The Eagles face Guinea-Bissau in a double header in March as they battle to qualify for the next AFCON to be hosted by Cote d’Ivoire.
Peseiro has promised the Eagles will win this AFCON.
