Super Eagles shot stopper Arthur Okonkwo is set to quit English Championship side Wrexham after he dropped to third-choice.
Okonkwo, who made his Super Eagles debut at the Unity Cup in May, is expected to leave permanently during the final two weeks of the summer transfer window.
He has entered the final year of his contract at Wrexham and his position in the team’s goalkeeper hierarchy has lowered following the arrival of Sunderland goalkeeper Anthony Patterson for an initial club-record transfer fee.
Okonkwo is now considered Wrexham’s third-choice goalkeeper behind Patterson and Danny Ward.
Wrexham accept that it is more logical to sell him while he retains some transfer value rather than risk him leaving for no fee next summer.
The goalkeeper joined Wrexham in July 2024.
According to Transfermarkt, he has a current market value of €5.00m.
