Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has been slammed a ban of two months for illegal betting, according to footballitalia.
This is far lesser sanction to a four-year ban that he would have been handed had he been found guilty of sporting fraud.
The ban will commence from the 2025/2026 season, which will be the Coppa Italia clash Carrarese on August 18.
It will end on by October 19 and that means he will miss six Serie A games as a result.
That also means he will miss the Super Eagles remaining 2026 World Cup qualifiers in September and October.
Udinese goalkeeper Okoye was booked in a Serie A game involving Lazio in March 2024 and a rush of suspicious betting activities around the goalkeeper getting a yellow card led to an investigation by the authorities.
