Despite missing out on this year’s World Cup, the Super Eagles will enjoy the full support of Nigerians resident in the USA when they face Mexico in a friendly at AT&T Stadium, Arlington, early Sunday morning.
Kick-off for the match is 12.30am Sunday.
A cross section of Nigerian based in the city told ScoreNigeria.com.ng that they will be on ground to support the team as they have put the team’s failure to qualify for Qatar 2022 World Cup behind them.
Akin Aderibigbe said he is no longer angry with the team after their failure to book a place in World Cup.
“Of course no more anger at all, It’s a game we lose some and win some, that’s the beauty of the game,” Aderibigbe told SCORENigeria
“So, I’m so happy I will be watching the Super Eagles play live and direct here at the AT&T Stadium ,Arlington, Texas.
“I’m also confident the Super Eagles will beat Mexico.”
Another Nigerian fan, Olanrewaju Folarin, said he is glad to watch the team and will cheer them against Mexico.
“Yes I’m happy I will watch the Super Eagles and Mexico match live here and I’m no more disappointed that they didn’t qualify for the World Cup. That’s football,” he said.
Peter Ekpo also promised his total support for the Eagles.
“Football is a game , it’s either you win or you lose. They did their best (in the World Cup playoffs vs Ghana), but it wasn’t good enough. I will keep supporting them though.”
Sooko Ojigidiri Lambua of Ile Ife, Chief Emdee Adeboye, said he is emotionally attached to the Eagles and always ready to cheer them to victory whenever he has a chance to watch them play.
“I am so excited about this opportunity to see our national team. Even though this is a friendly match, there is always the emotional attachment every time our team plays,” he offered.
