Super Eagles stand-in captain William Ekong has said he will be back in training later this week after a knee injury sidelined him out of the team’s final AFCON group game against Guinea Bissau.
The PAOK central defender suffered the injury in the Eagles 1-0 win over AFCON hosts Cote d’Ivoire.
“I am not out of the tournament,” Ekong.
“I am getting better, I am looking to be back in training the day after tomorrow (Wednesday).”
Kenneth Omeruo played in his place and also captained the team against Guinea Bissau.
The Super Eagles will next play a Round of 16 match Saturday in Abidjan.
