Super Eagles will Saturday in Alexandria battle defending champions Cameroon and not arch-rivals Ghana for a place in the 2019 AFCON quarterfinal.
This was after the Black Stars of Ghana won Group F after a 2-0 win over debutants Guinea Bissau, while Cameroon could only manage a goalless draw with Benin Republic.
Both Ghana and Cameroon recorded five points each, but the Black Stars scored more goals after both teams played out a 0-0 draw when they clashed.
The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon will be seeking revenge against Nigeria, who dumped them out of the 2018 World Cup courtesy of a 4-0 win in Uyo and a 1-1 draw in Yaounde.
It would also be recalled that Cameroon have thrice denied Nigeria to be African champions when it has mattered most – in the final in 1984, 1988 and 2000.
