Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika transfer to the Premier League is not happening after all.
According to Het Laatste Nieuws, the Club Brugge board has decided not to sell the Nigerian stalwart this summer. After the disappointing start of the season, it has become clear that the sporting value of the 23-year-old Onyedika is greater than the financial return of a possible transfer.
The Brugge technical staff and the board realised that the best periods of the past two seasons – in particular the impressive Champions League campaign under Carl Hoefkens and the strong play-offs of last season – always coincided with Onyedika in top form.
That is why he is now being taken out of the showcase and can only leave if a team is prepared to pay at least 20 Million Euros after they splashed half that amount to snap him up from Danish club FC Midtjylland.
The Belgian champions hope that he will stay for an extra season, although this will significantly increase the competition in midfield after they had already brought in a direct replacement for him.
