Skipper Ahmed Musa and substitute Samuel Chukwueze hit target as the Super Eagles beat Cotonsport 2-0 in an AFCON test game today in Garoua.
This was Eguavoen’s first match in charge of the Super Eagles and it must be a confidence booster for the team ahead of Tuesday’s opening Group D match against Egypt.
The coach obviously started the bulk of the team that will start Tuesday with goalkeeper Maduka Okoye between the sticks with a predictable back four of fullbacks Zaidu Sanusi and Ola Aina as well as central defenders William Ekong and Kenneth Omeruo.
Wilfred Ndidi, Joe Aribo and Kelechi Iheanacho started in midfield, while the attack was led by Taiwo Awoniyi with Ahmed Musa and Chidera Ejuke the wingers.
