Glasgow Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has showered encomiums on Nigerian youngster Sheyi Ojo, who has continued to impress at the Scottish club.
The former Liverpool legend saluted Ojo as “outstanding” after he scored a goal and provided two assists in Rangers 3-1 home win over Danish team FC Midtjylland in a Europa League qualifying game Thursday night.
Rangers thus advanced 7-3 on aggregate to the next round of the competition.
“I thought Sheyi was outstanding,” Gerrard remarked.
“Sheyi will take a lot of the plaudits and a lot of credit. I think that’s the real Sheyi. If we can find that on a consistent basis and bottle that performance he’ll certainly make us stronger.
“It’s no good having numbers and names, we need people to come in like Sheyi tonight (Thursday) and perform and Jordan Jones in the previous games. Jermain Defoe gets a hat-trick at the weekend, Alfredo two.”
