Sports minister Sunday Dare has sent his heartfelt condolences to the Police Machine team over the death of two of their players in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
Aniebet Ekong and Glory Saturday died after they were crushed by a hit-and-run driver Tuesday evening, while returning from training.
The minister while expressing shock and sadness over the unfortunate incident prayed God to grant the souls of the departed players rest, while praying for comfort for the families, friends, teammates and the entire police force.
The minister also wished those who were injured in the incident a speedy recovery, while urging the police to do all it could to fish out the perpetrator.
In the meantime, the minister saluted Super Eagles forward Emmanuel Bonaventure Dennis after he scored twice against mighty Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League.
“Nigerian footballer, Emmanuel Bonaventure, has just put his side two goals ahead in the first half against Real Madrid in the Champions League. I see another golden age of our National Football Team on the horizon. #ProudlyNigerian,” he tweeted.
The match ended in a 2-2 draw after Real Madrid drew level just before full time.
