Chukwubuikem Ikwuemesi has said he is delighted that the controversies surrounding his future are finally behind him after he signed for Serie A club Salernitana.
The former Flying Eagles striker was close to joining Latvian club Riga FC and later French Ligue 1 club Le Havre before he finally signed for Salernitana.
Ikwuemesi has signed a four-year contract with an option for an additional year.
Salernitana paid about 1.8 Million Euros to Slovenian club NK Celje for the big striker, who had also interested several top Serie A clubs including AC Milan.
“I am so happy to be at Salernitana after a lot of transfer saga,” he said at his media presentation.
“It doesn’t matter the clubs who were interested in signing me, it matters where I am at right now and that is the most important thing.”
He said he has been impressed by what he has seen of his new team so far and hopes to improve and give his best for them to win games and trophies.
He has been handed jersey No 22.
