Both Super Eagles strikers Victor Boniface and Kelechi Iheanacho scored at the weekend to keep their respective clubs on top of the standings, while Igho Ogbu was an unlikely hero for his Czech club in a record win in the Europa League.
5.Nathan Tella
The flying winger, who has pledged his international allegiance to Nigeria, was the hero for Bayer Leverkusen to beat hosts Molde in a UEFA Europa League group game. His first goal for Leverkusen was the winning goal in Norway. He may have so far been outshone by Victor Boniface at the German club, but he is also an exciting prospect who deserves to take his place in the Super Eagles. Leverkusen are looking good in both the Europa League as well as the Bundesliga thanks to their Nigerian firepower.
4.Sunusi Ibrahim
The all-action forward scored a goal and provided an assist for CF Montreal to trounce Portland Timbers 4-1 in the MLS. It was the second league goal of the season for the 21-year-old Sunusi after he last hit target at DC United four months ago. He has enjoyed far more playing time in this campaign and his Canadian club are still in with a chance to make the championship playoffs.
3.Kelechi Iheanacho
‘Seniorman Kels’ scored for the third straight English Championship game for Leicester City to beat Stoke City 2-0 and stay top of the table. He was named the Man of the Match. Fellow Super Eagles star Wilfred Ndidi assisted for Leicester City second goal and both players could walk away from ‘The Foxes’ in the New Year as free agents should they not sign new contracts.
2.Igho Ogbu
The central defender was an unlikely goal scorer for Slavia Praha to match the biggest win in the group phase of the UEFA Europa League courtesy of a 6-0 mauling of Moldovan champions Sherif. His Czech club are top of their group after they also beat hosts Servette 2-0 in their opening tie. AS Roma are the other team in this section.
1.Victor Boniface
The striker has continued to amaze with goals and an all-round display in the Bundesliga with his seventh goal for Bayer Leverkusen to see off visiting Cologne 3-0 in continuation of the German top-flight championship. Bayer Leverkusen thus remain top of the standings with 19 points, two points ahead of defending champions Bayern Munich. He has now netted nine goals and provided four assists in all competitions since his arrival from Belgium this summer.
