Simeon Nwankwo is now the leading scorer in Serie B with 20 goals, while in the top league in Italy Victor Moses has continued to cement his place at Inter Milan with yet another assist at the weekend.
5.Cyriel Dessers
The striker has already proved himself in Holland after he emerged as joint top scorer and it promises to be another fine run for him at new Belgian club KRC Genk after he netted his second goal in pre-season. He was the match winner in a pre-season friendly against top Dutch club AZ Alkmaar.
4.Joe Aribo
The exciting Super Eagles midfielder scored a superb goal for Rangers in a 2-0 win over Coventry to round-up their build-up for the new season in Scotland. The Glasgow outfit are expected to again challenge rivals and champions Celtic in the new campaign and this they will do with the goals and creativity of Aribo as well as compatriots Leon Balogun and Calvin Bassey.
3.Wilfred Ndidi
The defensive midfielder was Leicester City’s best player in a 2-0 home loss to a fired-up Manchester United. Despite the loss, ‘The Foxes’ will play in the UEFA Europa League next season. Ndidi in his own part has continued to enhance his growing profile as some of Europe’s top clubs continue to cast an eye on the Nath Boys product. His valuation is put at around 50 million Euros, but that price tag can only improve on the strength on what he showed in this campaign.
2.Victor Moses
The Chelsea loanee may be one of the forgotten men of Nigeria football no thanks to his premature retirement from international football, but he has continued to deliver assists with his latest being for Alex Sanchez to score Inter Milan second goal in a 3-0 win at Genoa. The 29-year-old winger or right wingback will hope he has done enough for second-placed Inter to make his transfer permanent so that he could feature in the UEFA Champions League again come next season.
1.‘Simy’ Nwankwo
The target man has been scoring goals freely in Italy for Crotone and now he is leading scorer in Serie B with 20 goals and four assists with two rounds of matches to the end of the season. His goals have also ensured his club are back in the Italian top flight after an absence of two seasons. It will be a massive personal feat should he go on to finish as Goal King after he did same in Portugal a few years back.
