The Super Eagles should be in the reckoning for the Premier League Player of the Month for May after his goals in the month under review ensured Nottingham Forest did not make a prompt return to the English second-tier league. He became the first Forest player to score 10-plus goals in 28 years and the stats also show that his goals gave his club 12 points in the Premier League, which is the seventh highest for a player in this campaign.

It was on his 100th game for Napoli. He is now four goals clear of closest rival Lautaro Matinez of Inter Milan. His latest goals came on a day he was also conferred with a national honour by the Nigerian government for his exploits at home and abroad. Osimhen lifted Napoli to their first Scudetto in 33 years and he is poised for more glory after a stellar season that has seen him net 30 goals in all competitions. He deserves his flowers.
