Emmanuel Dennis recall to the Super Eagles is now inevitable after he scored his fifth goal and provided as many assists for Watford in only his debut season in the Premier League in England.
5.Joe Aribo
The versatile midfielder fired one of the goals for Scottish champions and league leaders Rangers to beat home team Livingston 3-1. Aribo has now scored four goals in the league as he closes in on last season’s personal tally of seven. In his first season in Scotland, he netted 10 goals. Rangers are now four points clear of nearest rivals Celtic after 14 rounds of matches.
4.Samuel Chukwueze
Villarreal may have gone down to Barcelona at the weekend, but at least ‘Samu’ showed he has rediscovered his scoring touch after many months on the sidelines. He took his goal well to draw the home team level only for them to capitulate late on. His first La Liga goal this season will most certainly boost his self-belief going forward.
3.Ademola Lookman
The Super Eagles prospect finally netted his first Premier League goal for Leicester City as they outscored Watford 4-2. That effort will certainly take off some of the pressure from the forward, who has been preferred lately to fellow Nigeria star Kelechi Iheanacho. Last season he scored four goals in Fulham in the same league and should he surpass such tally this term, he could be rewarded with a permanent transfer from German Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig.
2.Emmanuel Dennis
It is now clear that whoever is named to lead the Super Eagles to the AFCON in January will have to recall this forward, who continues to impress in his first season in the Premier League. He not only scores goals but also creates them and so his five goals and five assists thus far. The Eagles coach will have to manage the attitude of this player, which has been attributed for his being frozen out of the national team since November 2020.
1.Cyriel Dessers
The Genk loanee posted the most outstanding Nigerian individual performance of the past week after his double strike in the UEFA Europa Conference League ensured Feyenoord advanced to the knockout rounds of the competition by winning their qualifying group. He has continued to prove he knows his way to goal and it won’t be such a bad idea that he be handed a second chance with the Super Eagles especially as a certain Victor Osimhen will be missing for the AFCON.
