The Super Eagles flying winger has put behind him a collapsed transfer away from FC Nantes to fire his third goal in Ligue 1 at FC Lorient. ‘The Canaries’ will again be counting on him to stay afloat in the top league in France.
The former U23 international propelled his Portuguese club Casa Pia to a 3-2 away win at Pacos de Ferreira at the weekend. The 26-year-old forward equalised 1-1 for the visiting team in the 56th minute.
He has now scored two goals in six games. Saviour scored 10 goals in 29 games last season to help his side secure promotion to the top flight. He has positioned himself for a Super Eagles call-up soon after he has been capped by Nigeria at U17 and U20 levels.
The defender posted a solid UEFA Champions League debut as Ajax trounced his former club Rangers 4-0 in Amsterdam. It was another clean-sheet performance, which he followed up days later as his team walloped Heerenveen 5-0 in the Dutch league. The Ajax coach has already hailed Bassey as a super signing for his team.
The Super Eagles forward scored his 12th goal in international competitions at Sivasspor of Turkey in the UEFA Conference League to make him joint all-time top scorer for Slavia Praha at this level. His goal was also nominated for Goal of the Week by UEFA. He has also made the most international appearances for the Czech champions as he made his 50th game against Sivasspor.
‘Samu’ shone with a goal and an assist for Villarreal to edge past Lech Poznan of Poland 4-3 in a UEFA Conference League group game. His well-taken goal was nominated for the Goal of the Week. This can only boost his self-belief as he is no longer a starter for Villarreal. The winger has fallen down the pecking order at the La Liga club and was even penciled for a loan move for him to enjoy more regular game time.
