Victor Osimhen crowned a stellar season in Serie A by making history as the first African to finish as top scorer after his goals had already installed Napoli as champions, while Asisat Oshoala bagged her second UEFA Women’s Champions League.

The Antwerp midfielder decorated his second season in Belgium with the league title on dramatic final day of action. The 24-year-old striker enjoyed his best-ever season in France by totaling 21 goals in all competitions. In his first season with FC Lorient he grabbed 15 goals and the following season he managed only eight goals. At the weekend, Moffi signed off this outgone campaign with a goal and Man of the Match Award for OGC Nice to beat Lyon 3-1. It was his 18th Ligue 1 goal. He now has 40 Ligue 1 goals to his name.
2.Asisat Oshoala
The five-time CAF African Player of the Year consolidated her status as the most decorated African women’s player in Europe when Barcelona Femeni clinched a second UEFA Women’s Champions League. It was a remarkable comeback for the Spanish champions as they had to fight back from two goals down to edged past German champions Wolfsburg. ‘Agba Baller’ has thus far won three Spanish leagues, the Super Cup thrice, the Copa del Reina thrice and now a second European champions League. She was also top scorer in the Spanish league last season.

1.Victor Osimhen
The Super Eagles striker now has a pride in place in the annals of the Italian top league after he scored his 26th goal of the Serie A season against Sampdoria to be crowned the King of Goals. He is the first African in the 125-year history of Serie A to be the Capocannoiniere. He has now scored a combined total of 50 Serie A goals since his arrival at Napoli in 2020. His tally was four goals more than nearest rival Lautaro Martinez of Inter Milan and he deservedly named by the league as the best striker of the season. However, the controversy rages on why he was beaten to the Serie A MVP award by his Napoli teammate Khvica Kvaratskhelia. Not bad achievements for the boy who started out from the slums of Lagos.
