It was a superb debut season in Scotland for striker Cyriel Kolawole Dessers as he flourished with a hatful of goals for the ‘Gers’ in the 2023/2024 season.

Dessers scored in every competition he played for this past season, starting from the Scottish Premiership where he scored 16 times across 35 matches and 2,287 minutes.
He also found the back of the net in Europe’s biggest club competition, the UEFA Champions League, once across four matches, also grabbing an assist in 260 minutes.
Even after crashing down into the Europa League with Rangers, he scored once and also created a goal across 385 minutes.
He bettered this by scoring thrice in the Scottish Cup and firing a double in 219 minutes in the Scottish League Cup, which his Glasgow club went on to win.
Despite being a striker, Dessers was also responsible for creating seven goals this season at Rangers.
In the Premiership, Cyriel had four assists, 306 successful passes out of 435 attempted, with a pass completion rate of 70.34% and 47 key passes.
Dessers was a constant threat to the Scottish goalkeepers, firing 79 shots in total, 48 of which were on target, with the other 31 going astray. He hit the woodwork 5 times and a shot accuracy of 60.76%.
Per 90 minutes in the Premiership, Dessers had 0.63 goals, 0.16 assists and 0.79 goals plus assists combined per game.
Dessers impressive performance earned him a place in Finidi George’s Super Eagles team that took on the Black Stars of Ghana in March in Morocco, where he ensured he made his mark with a goal from the penalty spot as Nigeria finally beat their perennial rivals 2-1 after many years.
However, he has since been confirmed to have suffered a long-term injury as he now looks to return stronger and better next season.
