A source has told SCORENigeria that Super Eagles assistant coach Daniel Amokachi has yet to be in Uyo for the World Cup qualifiers after he took an excuse from Finidi George.
“Amokachi has yet to join the camp, but I know he has spoken to Finidi regarding his absence,” a source informed.
“He’s still being expected.”
Amokachi has been conspicuously missing in the Super Eagles build-up to Friday’s crucial World Cup qualifier against South Africa.
His appointment was contentious after fears were expressed he could try to impose himself over the head coach Finidi.
Like Finidi, he also applied for the top Super Eagles post.
The former international was an assistant coach when Nigeria won a third AFCON title in 2013.
