The monthly salaries of Samuel Kalu and Josh Maja at French Ligue 1 side Bordeaux are determined by the number of matches they play, according to recent investigations by the sports newspaper L’equipe.
This arrangement was introduced by the new American owners of the Ligue 1 club.
There is a basic salary for most of the players at the club and it is then left for the players to determine how much more they can earn according to how many games they play in a month.
Officials revealed that one of the Bordeaux players for example earned an additional bonus of 10,000 Euros for every official match he played.
“The idea is to pay you less money if you did not play,” a source at Bordeaux disclosed.
