The hopes of Sadiq Umar playing in La Liga next season were dented tonight after his club UD Almeria fell 3-0 at Girona in a promotion playoffs semifinal first leg.
The return leg will be played at Almeria Saturday.
Sadiq, who scored 20 goals in the regular season, was marked out of the game tonight and he did not enjoy good service from the midfield.
Failure to win promotion back to the Spanish top flight after a six-year absence will most certainly quicken the exit from Almeria of their Nigeria striker.
