Antonio Conte would not have re-instated Victor Osimhen to the Napoli first-team squad had the striker stayed back at the Italian club this summer.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Conte has been very clear that the group comes first before any individual and as such he would do anything to protect the group.
“’Osi’ would never have been re-instated to the team because he didn’t want to play for them and anything short of that would have sent a very wrong signal to those players who worked hard from day one at Dimaro (Napoli pre-season training camp),” the newspaper reported.
Michael Folorunsho, whose proposed transfers to Atalanta and Lazio fell through this summer, has since been re-instated in the Napoli squad.
